Outback Steakhouse – Metro League Round Three – April 29, 2006
Metro League Home, Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, Finals METROLEAGUE ROUND 3 REPORT Hudson River Rats 9-1-55 (Davis 4, Sutton 2, Dymond, Rees, Bridges) defeated Village Bohemians 8-0-48 (Nicholls 4, Crighton, Jackson, Halliday, McLeod) In game one, the Hudson River Rats took on the much improved Village Bohemians. Two last minute River Rat recruits helped their cause as Brad Davis kicked four majors and Darren Sutton contributed two for the Double R’s. The VB’s prodigal son, Jim Nicholls, showed Pies selectors he’s back by kicking four majors. However, even the addition of the new VB mascot, Clint, was not enough as the Rats won by a kick at the final bell. Suburban Tollmen 12-2-74 (Meehan 5, Murray 4, Desai, Polulach, Schultz) defeated Times Square Tourists 7-0-42 (Bish 2, Molly, Pulle, Smith, Lewis, Steiner) Game Two saw the Surburban Tollman taking on Brett Lewis and the Times Square Tourists. This game saw the debut of Trash rookie Joe Meehan who showed some great things to Pies selectors by chipping in with five majors and was joined by Rueban Murray who put another four through the big sticks. The Metroleague debut of big-man Mike Smith attracted much attention and he showed his worth by throwing Ojas Desai around like a rag doll. However, Smith couldn’t contain the T-Men’s running game who ran away five goal winners. The next round of the New York City Metroleague will most likely be held June 3 in place of the Magpies cancelled trip to Florida. |
