Metro League Round One – May 31, 2003
Metro League Home, Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 Times Square Tourists vs Village Bohemians The Bohemians got the 2003 Metroleague season off to a great start taking a seven-to-three goal lead over the Tourists at half time, mainly thanks to some great running through the midfield from Dougie Lewis and Shane Smith. The second half proved to be no different, although the Tourists did put up a little defense with some solid goal kicking, including a spectacular goal from the boundry from captain James Paterson. Newcomer Mike Gluck continued his great goal kicking form, adding three for the Bohemians. Village Bohemians 12-2-74 (Gluck 3, Smith 3, Nicholls 2, Lewis, Davies, Malycha, Juice) Suburban Tollmen vs Hudson River Rats The self-proclaimed Outerborough Trash (Surburban Tollmen) took on the Hudson River Rats in the second game of the Metroleague kick-off. The Rats got off to a great start with some early goals through the midfield from President Gurry, Luminato, and Crighton. The Rats took a six goal to one lead at the half thanks to some great defensive work from Tom Hayes who held Chucky to only two goals for the game. A deplorable third quarter from the Rats saw the Trash come back into the game, trailing by only two goals at three-quarter time thanks to some great snaps at goal from Chucky and Locky Oliver. A late goal by Kiwi Col Smart sealed the game for the River Rats. Hudson River Rats 9-1-55 (Gurry 3, Crighton 2, Luminato 2, Smart, O’Flaherty) |
