Metro League Round One – July 27, 2002
Metro League Home, Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Finals Wall St Bulls vs Hudson River Rats & Times Square Tourists vs Village Bohemians Sporting the new uniforms that arrived the day prior, the four newly formed Metro League teams hit the field at Van Cortlandt Park Saturday, July 27th. The modified 9 a side games featured non-stop action up and down the field, with little time for players or fans to take a breather. The first game saw the Wall St Bulls use their height advantage to take an early first quarter lead over the Hudson River Rats. The smaller but quicker Rats used their speed and endurance to turn the game around through the final three quarters, finishing with an easy 9-3-57 to 3-2-20 victory. The second game proved to be a closer contest as the Village Bohemians took on the Times Square Tourists. Through the first three quarters it remained a relatively even game onfield, but on the scoreboard the Touries dominated.Going intothe final 10 minutes down 5 goals, the Bohemians stepped up the accuracy and the pressure, keeping the ball in the Tourists half the entire quarter. When the final horn sounded, the teams found themselves deadlocked; final score 7-0-49 to 7-0-49.
