New York Magpies vs. Baltimore / Washington Eagles
South Park, Pittsburgh, PA, 2:00pm

The Magpies kicked off their 2005 season with a trip to Pittsburgh. In the inaugural season of the Eastern Australian Football League (EAFL), the 'Pies started off with a mini-tournament, playing the Baltimore/Washington Eagles and the Pittsburgh Wallabies.

The game against the Eagles started off well for New York. The 'Pies established midfield dominance and were able to keep the ball in attack. New York opened the scoring with several behinds, and finally scored a major when Jarrad "Too Sexy" Crighton kicked truly. The relentless Magpies attack continued, but inaccurate kicking, compounded by good defensive pressure from the Eagles, limited the Magpies to only one additional goal.

Q1: New York 2.7 (19) to Baltimore / Washington 0.0 (0)

The second quarter opened up with the Magpies continuing their control of the midfield, with strong ruckwork from Andrew "The Ballarat Beast" Bridges and Brian "Too Tall" Jackson. NY posted goals from first-gamer James "Don't Call Me Jimmy" Anderson and Kym "The Ageless Wonder" Laube. However, B/W continued to fight hard, and posted a goal to keep themselves in the contest.

Q2: New York 4.9 (33) to Baltimore / Washington 1.0 (6)

New York began the premiership quarter with continued pressure on the ball, and although B/W continued to fight valiantly, the Magpies pulled away with four goals to none.

Q3: New York 8.11 (59) to Baltimore / Washington 1.0 (6)

The fourth quarter was more of the same from the Magpies. Strong ruckwork and great run through the middle created four more goals, including two from Adam "Georgey Boy" George. B/W never gave up though, and slotted through a minor score to finish their scoring for the day.

Q4: New York 12.12 (84) to Baltimore / Washington 1.1 (7)

Goals: Laube 3, George 2, Thompson 2, Anderson, Crighton, Murray, O'Keefe, Vonwiller
