1.      AUSTRALIA DAY EVENT

Friday, January 26th at 9 PM at The Tonic Bar, 7th Avenue between 48th and 49th. Due to the huge number of guests at the 2006 event, we will be pre-selling tickets for $10 at:

http://nyfooty.com/social/2007/australia.shtml

Please join us to celebrate with plenty of real Australia:  Bundaberg Rum, Meat Pies, Coopers, Tooheys & J. Boags Aussie beers, Aussie music, Aussie videos, Jacobs Creek Aussie wine, and more.  There will be a dance floor set up on the 2nd floor with a DJ so you can strut your stuff or at least attempt to.

Ashes highlights and the Australian Open Tennis should also be on live very late that night so stick around to watch on the numerous plasma screens.

Entry fee is tax deductible since the Magpies are a qualified public charity.  A portion of the proceeds will be donated to another worthy charity as well.

Tickets will also be available at the door for $20 so buy online and save some dough.

There will be heaps of FREE door prizes courtesy of Coopers Beer, Crumpler, Outback Steakhouse, and Jacob’s Creek winery.  To be eligible to receive door prizes remember to bring along a business card and drop it off at the entrance when you gain entry to the event or sign up at the door.

2.         INDOOR CRICKET IN MANHATTAN

What: BigCricket.com Indoor Cricket Cup

Location: Chelsea Piers

Where: West 23rd Street & Hudson River

When: Australia Day, January 26th

Time: 8am-2pm

Cricket in New York City?  That’s right, indoor cricket comes to Manhattan. What better way to promote Aussie culture than with a full day of cricket action between NYC metro area Australian businesses such as restaurants, bars, cafes, and pie shops!  Come down to watch and cheer on your favorite place, or your mates. Want to show off your cricket ability, then let us know and we can try to put you on a team. So come on down, regardless if you are Aussie or not, this is one Australia Day Event you don't want to miss (or the after party!). For any questions, information, comments, email bigcricket@gmail.com

3.      AUSTRALIA WEEK EVENTS

In 2006 Australia Day seemed to turn into Australia Week, now 2007 seems to be turning into a month long event with indoor cricket, wine events, G’Day New York, The Wiggles, Terri and Bindi Irwin, a Fashion Showcase, Auctions, Black Tie Events, and of course the Magpies Australia Day Extravaganza.

Check out all the details at http://www.australia-week.com/

4.      GET YOUR MUG ON NATIONAL TV

Letterman, CSI, Survivor, and now you.  The CBS Early Show would like as many people to be included in their outside audience on the 18th to interact with weatherman Dave, who has been to Australia, and promote the Wine Australia Festival and Australia Week.  The more the merrier.  They'll even give you free donuts and coffee for the effort.  You should be there by 7am, for roughly 2 hours.  If anyone is interested in touring the studio afterwards, let us know.  If you and any of your mates are interested, please let us know, and get the names to us so that we can let them know the expected numbers.  Please pass onto anyone else who you know may be coming to the wine event, or anyone interested in being part of the group.

The location is terrific, 59th and 5th right next to the Apple store, FAO Schwartz, and Central Park.

January 27, 2007 4th annual IDIOTAROD - Secret Location to Be Determined

No not the overpaid Yankee third basemen, the race that will be featured on CSI New York Wed night.  The Iditarod is the famous long-distance race in which yelping dogs tow a sled across Alaska. The IDIOTAROD is pretty much the same thing, except that instead of dogs, it's people, instead of sleds, it's shopping carts, and instead of Alaska it's New York City.  Only in New York…..
