1. AFL GRAND FINAL EVENT WRAP UP
What a game, what a venue!!! Congratulations to the Sydney Swans, a few of which just left New York as part of their end of season trip.
Check out photos from the event courtesy of Joseph Corrigan, former NY Magpie player and professional photographer, http://www.josephcorriganphotography.com/wwwsite/index.htm
Thanks to all the guests who showed up in force and watched the back and forth battle until the very end. Please feel free to send your feedback to . We did our best to make this a really great event and news of it even made it to the newspapers in Melbourne, http://www.realfooty.theage.com.au/realfooty/articles/2005/09/24/1126982 271713.html
In line with the 2005 ANZAC event this fundraiser drew a few celebs. Brett Backwell, who appeared on Letterman the night before was there with all 9 of his fingers, http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/news/story?id=2160215.
The Naked Cowgirl from Times Square also made a guest appearance, http://www.gawker.com/news/20050830cowgirl.jpg
If you want to see the AFL champs play in person get out to Los Angeles in January 2006 for Australia Week. More details in “Around Town” section below.
A portion of the proceeds were donated to The Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina Relief.
Huge thanks to all of the sponsors of the event:

If you want to see how your friends did, you can search by name or number at:
http://www.nycmarathon.org/results/index.php
You can also search by country noting that 188 Aussies participated in the event!!!! 3. MTA GIVES YOU A BREAK
Can you believe it; the MTA is reducing subway and bus fares? Even if it is just for the holidays, we never though we would see the day. Basically weekend rides from Thanksgiving to New Years Day will be $1 instead of $2 and the entire week between Christmas and New Years will also be $1 24/7. We feel that it should have started on December 23 (Festivus), but you cannot get everything.

4. FOOTY HEADS TO BERMUDA
Further evidence that Australian Football is taking over the world check this out, a footy tournament in Bermuda!!!! Having been there, this is got to be one of the greatest places on Earth to visit. Terrific weather all year long, incredible beaches with pink sand, crystal clear water, diving/snorkeling, and more golf per square foot than anywhere else in the world.
5. CRAZY/INTERESTING AUSSIE STORIES IN THE NEWS
